Secluded Sights at SFU: A Treehouse

Treehouse Treehouses used to be very popular at SFU back in the 1970's. Students used to live in them, and there were even rumours of a faculty member living in one. Most of the treehouses were wiped-out with the parking lot expansions of the late 1970's and early 1980's. However, a few intrepid treehouse dwellers remained. As recently as 1998, a student who went by the pseudonym of "mat x" claimed to be living in a treehouse in the woods of Burnaby Mountain.

This treehouse is a little drafty and wet. I took the picture on a foggy day in November, 2005. I think it's one of the last remaining treehouses on Burnaby Mountain. It's not much to look at now, but in the old days it was probably palatial!
